American Legion Riders HISTORY
From One Post to a Nationwide Community
The American Legion Riders began at Post 396 in Garden City, Michigan, when Chuck “Tramp” Dare and Bill “Polka” Kaledas created a motorcycle program for American Legion Family members.
With support from Michigan Department Adjutant Hubert Hess, the program developed into an organized network of Riders chapters focused on camaraderie and service.
